How do you edit each podcast turn after generation?
AnswerGenerated turns are a draft, not the episode. In Podcasts, attach a master draft, generate one- or two-host turns, then edit line by line: cut brochure tone, add breath, stop both sides saying the same thing. Only then pick voices. Full path: How do I turn an article into a podcast episode?. Two-host setup: How do you set two podcast hosts and voices?.
Fix words before swapping voices
Muddy audio is often unread copy. Soften with How does AI-tone detect work, and how do I rewrite? or shorten in the turn editor. Voice answers “who,” not “should this be said.”
For dual hosts, mark who asks and who answers. If both recite the draft, roles blur—see How do you set two podcast hosts and voices?.
Characters and resynthesis
Each synthesize spends dubbing characters—How is AI voiceover priced—per character or per minute?, How many free voiceover characters do you get each week?. Lock text first so you do not burn three takes of one turn.
One narration with no turn structure belongs on How do I turn a finished article into a voiceover?. The same piece can still become a short video.
Do this
- Generate turns from a publishable draft.
- Edit each turn until it sounds spoken.
- Pick voices and synthesize; fix words before re-running.
- Keep a listen-through version, then distribute.
Short answers
- Can I resynthesize only one turn?
- Yes—edit that turn and run it again instead of regenerating the whole episode. Follow the Podcasts UI.
- What if generation fails or turns are empty?
- Check that the master draft is long enough and not only a bullet list. Add a real claim, then generate again.
